University and college education and other educations for pupils and students without statutory rights as a young person
For most students, the spring semester is not over yet. But it may still be wise to think about the next academic year.
If you have admission in 2021–2022 in Norway or abroad, you can already apply for a loan and grant.
If you are going to study abroad and are unsure whether you can travel to the place of study, we recommend that do not apply until you are sure that you can travel.
Select your type of education and check how much you can receive in loans and grants. Here you will also find a link to the application for the next academic year.

- primary school education for adults
- upper secondary education for adults

Many have not yet received admission, such as first-year students. If you do not have admission , you must wait to apply until you have received it.
Processing time and payment
Most applicants will receive a response within a few days. However, there are some applications that must be considered by a case handler, and then it takes longer. The cases that must be processed by a case handler end up in a queue. In the summer and autumn there are very many applications, so at that time the queue is longer than it is in the spring.
Here you can read more about how long the processing time is now.
Before you can get the money, there are some conditions that must be met. On Dine sider you can see both the date you can get the money at the earliest, and you can see whether all the conditions are met.
It is best to have the documentation ready
Are you studying abroad? Check which documentation you must submit, whether you are a first-year student or already a student abroad.
Pupils in upper secondary school with statutory rights as a young person cannot apply yet
If you are going to take upper secondary education in the academic year 2021–2022, you must wait to apply for grants and loans until you have received admission and have accepted it.
You can still check how much grant you can receive next academic year.
Apprentices must have an approved contract
You must wait to apply for a grant from Lånekassen until the apprenticeship contract has been approved by your employer, and by the vocational training office.
