Am I eligible for grants and loans?
If you are under the age of 21 years, you may be eligible for:
- grant for course materials
- additional grant for those living away from their parents
- additional grant for those whose parents have a low income
- additional grant for those who have children
- loans for those over the age of 18 years
Remember that loans are money you need to repay.
How much money can I get?
You can get NOK 1,359 in a grant for course materials.
If you are living away from your parents, have children or a low income, you can also receive more money in the form of grants. You can apply for the same amount of money as pupils under the age of 21 years who attend upper secondary school.
Some individuals are also eligible for a refugee grant
If you have received protection (asylum) in Norway, you may be eligible for a refugee grant when you attend preparatory training. You cannot receive a refugee grant if you live at an asylum centre or if you are in receipt of introduction benefits.
For those aged between 21 and 24 years
Did you receive a grant for course materials, other grants or loans pursuant to the rules for ordinary upper secondary education (Part 2 of Study Financing Regulation) during the 2023/24 academic year? If the answer is yes, the information on this page will also apply to you even if you are aged 21 years or older.
